Current matters to bring to your attention include:-
DOG LOVERS SHOW – 4-5
TH AUGUST
The Club will be manning a stall again at the 2018 Dog Lovers Show at the Hordern Pavilion
at Moore Park. This event always generates great interest in Dachshunds from potential
new owners. Please contact Alexis Bromage (0413 725 508) if you can assist.
Unfortunately, Judy Phillips, who has previously co-ordinated the Dachshund stall, has been
unwell and we all hope that she will be back on-deck at this busy and important event.
ADDITIONAL DONATIONS – 12TH NATIONAL DACHSHUND SPECIALTY SHOW
The Dachshund Club of NSW Inc is very grateful to the following for their generous

National Specialty Show:-

 Vicki McGinty – $100
 Nordstrom family – $150
 Paul Bevins, Jim Burt & Geoffrey Blakney – floral arrangements
 Kathy Potts – medallions
 Ingleburn Trophies – sweepstake medals

CRITIQUE – 12TH NATIONAL DACHSHUND SPECIALTY SHOW
The detailed critique by judge Lloyd Cross (UK) – including Barbara Killworth’s photos of up
to three winners in each class – is nearing completion. It promises to be a remarkable record
of the 2018 National and of Dachshunds in Australia at the present time and it will be
emailed to all exhibitors and club members who have notified their email addresses. Please
let Bill Hardie know by phoning or by leaving a message on 02 9477 2421 if you require a
printed and bound copy. You will be notified of the cost of printing and postage when these
have been determined.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – THE DACHSHUND CLUB OF NSW INC – 8/8/2018
We hope to see as many members as possible at the AGM – commencing at 8 pm, at the
Dundas Sport and Recreation Club. Membership Renewal and Nomination Forms for
positions on the Committee have been sent out and should be returned to Pat Thomas as
soon as possible.

FCI SHOWS
Like it or not, many of the international judges coming to Australia have been schooled inFederation Cynologique International (FCI) rules rather than our own, and awards such as
“Group 1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th” (as recently adopted by the Sydney Kennel Club) instead of “BestIn Group” and “Runner-Up Best In Group etc” are being trialled here. The Spring Fair
Championship Show on Friday 31st August will go further with all classes to be judged “withattributions of the CACIB of the FCI” in 10 FCI Groups instead of the 7 normally used in
Australia. Please note that FCI Group 4 is exclusively for Dachshunds. The entry to beattracted by the judge, Mr P John (India), not to mention his awards, will be very interesting.
In May this year, Ian Seath (UK), who judged the 81st Novocastrian Dachshund Club of NSWInc Championship Show, was one of the judges at a Dachshund specialty show in Denmark
which was conducted under FCI rules. His excellent commentary can be found at the end ofthis Low Down. It has been included as it gives a timely insight into the differences between
the FCI and UK Breed Standard upon which ours is based.
